AdiaPure

FAQ

Short answers to the questions that come up most.

About the product

What does AdiaPure control? A demand-controlled hybrid adiabatic humidifier. It drives the water pump and the atomisation valves, and it watches the water quality, the pressures and the temperatures.

What is "hybrid adiabatic"? The air is humidified by spraying cold water into the airstream and letting the evaporation cool the air. "Hybrid" means the unit can also take over part of the humidity load from the air handling unit, through the demand signal.

How many atomisation stages does the unit have? Four valve outputs, of which two are enabled by default. You can change how many stages you use and where each stage starts.

Is the unit a single-humidifier controller or a panel controller? It is a humidifier controller. It reads a demand and a return-air humidity, and it drives its own pump and valves.

Using it

How do I change the operating mode? On the screen: Settings → System Settings → OPERATING MODE, then pick a mode in the Select Operating Mode popup. In the web interface: the Operation Mode panel on the Dashboard.

Why does the unit not humidify although the mode says AUTOMATIC? Because one of the enable conditions is not met. The screen shows which one in a banner: Waiting: Master, Waiting: Hygrostat, Waiting: Airflow or Waiting: Alarm.

Do I need to set the time? Yes, if you want the alarm history and the log to be useful. The clock is kept by a battery-backed cell, but it starts from the build date until you set it.

How long does a flush take? Three seconds to open the drain, then Flush duration seconds per enabled valve with a three-second drain wait after each one, then three seconds to close the drain. With two valves enabled and the default 30-second flush duration, that is a little over a minute.

What does the K1–K4 indicator on the screen mean? The atomisation stages. K1 is the first valve and so on.

Why does the unit flush more often than the flush interval? A flush is also started when the conductivity or the water temperature goes out of range.

Networking

Does the unit have a web interface? Yes, on TCP port 80 of the Ethernet port. It has two pages: the Dashboard and the Configuration page.

Does the web interface need a login? No. Treat the network the unit is on as a trusted network, or block port 80 at the switch or firewall.

What is the address out of the box? 192.168.1.195, subnet 24, gateway 192.168.1.1, with DHCP switched off.

Can I use DHCP? Yes. Tick Enable DHCP on the screen or in the web interface.

Does the unit work on a network with 802.1X port authentication? Yes. It announces itself on the network so that a switch using MAC Authentication Bypass can learn its address.

Why does the Ethernet connector have two LEDs? The yellow one shows the link and blinks with traffic. The green one shows that the link runs at 100 Mbit/s.

Fieldbus

What protocols can the unit speak? Modbus RTU and BACnet MS/TP on the RS-485 fieldbus, Modbus/TCP and BACnet/IP on Ethernet, and Modbus over USB for service.

Can I use Modbus RTU and BACnet MS/TP at the same time? No. The RS-485 bus carries one of them, chosen with the RS485 protocol setting. BACnet/IP and Modbus/TCP are always available on Ethernet.

Do I need a termination resistor on the RS-485 bus? Yes, and the board does not have one. Fit 120 Ω across Mod+ and Mod- at each end of the bus.

Can I write every setting over the fieldbus? Almost. The fieldbus leaves a few internal settings read-only. The USB service connection can write everything.

Alarms

Which alarms do I have to acknowledge? The sticky ones: Water Temperature High, Conductivity After Flush, Water Pressure Low, Water Pressure High, Water Leak Detected and No Motor Drive. The rest clear by themselves when the condition goes away.

Why did an alarm appear even though nothing looked wrong? A sensor that is briefly out of range does not alarm, but one that stays out of range, or one that flaps, does. A water temperature or conductivity alarm becomes sticky after 2 minutes of continuous excess or 3 trips in an hour. A pressure alarm becomes sticky after 30 minutes of continuous excess or 10 trips in an hour.

Why does an alarm come back after I reset it? Because the condition that caused it is still there. Resetting clears the alarm and its trip history, but it does not change the measurement.

When does the maintenance alarm appear? When the one-year countdown runs out, or when more than 2000 pump hours have passed since the last maintenance.

How do I clear the maintenance alarm? Acknowledge the maintenance. On the screen, press Reset on the Maintenance Required card. Over the fieldbus, write 1 to the MAINTENANCE register.

Service

Can I undo a factory reset? No. It erases the settings, the measurement log and the alarm history.

How do I read every value the unit measures? With any Modbus client over the fieldbus or over TCP.

Where do the logs go? The controller stores them in its own non-volatile memory. The alarm history is on the screen and in the web interface; the full measurement log can be read over the fieldbus.
